SUMMARY

New data on the Middle Jurassic Sông Phan Formation

The Middle Jurassic Sông Phan Formation was long ago established [10], but its stratotype has not been detailedly described and published, therefore the formation has not a stable position in the stratigraphic schema of Jurassic sediments of the Đà Lạt Basin. In the framework of the Project of Geological mapping and mineral investigation at 1:50,000 scale of the Tánh Linh sheet group of the Geological Party No.2, Geological Mapping Division of the South of Việt Nam, some sections of the Sông Phan Formation has been surveyed in detail, allowing to affirm the existence of the formation, to date it as Late Bajocian - Bathonian, and to show its stratotype.
