Activity characteristics of the Rào Nậy fault zone during Cenozoic

Basing on the method of geomorphologic, geological, remote sensing and
tectonophysical analysis, the author determines the kinematics and geodynamics
of Rào Nậy fault zone. This fault is of NW-SE direction, reactivated from old
fault up to recent time. During the Neotetonic period there are two main
tectonic stages with different tectonic stress state, that changes fairly from west to east and
from north to south.
In the second stage, the fault was divided in two segments. The first segment extending from Rào Vàng to Hương Khê of NW-SE direction is characterized by right-lateral movement. The second segment extending from Hương Khê to Cửa Gianh of E-W direction is characterized by normal motion. The fault Hương Khê - Ròn is characterized by right compression trike-slip.
