An overview of gas hydrate research and development activities in South Korea

Gas hydrate (GH) is a new energy source being interested in many countries around the world. Many countries, like the United States, Korea, Canada, Norway, Germany, India, China ... has launched research programs to evaluate the potential of GH, to carry out the exploitation of this energy source from the sea floor. South Korea has been interested in and realizing research programs to investigate GH from the 90s of last century. In this paper, the authors give a brief overview on GH research and development program in South Korea. They raise some problems for GH research and development activity in Việt Nam.
