Landslide is a common geohazard occurring frequently in the Yên Bái City area. Hence map of landslide susceptibility zoning (LSZ), which can be used in informing authorities and local inhabitants about landslide risk warning, is very necessary. In the study, the LSZ map of the Yên Bái City has been established based on slope stability model. The results have been indicating that the high, medium, low and very low landslide susceptibility classes are 11.41 km2 (20.94%), 9.07 km2 (16.63%), 4.05 km2 (7.43%) and 29.98 km2 (55%), respectively.

The results of combining method between Quickbird image interpretation and field investigation have been determining in total 31 different landslide inventories. The evaluation and comparison between LSZ map and landslide inventory map indicated that at least 76.96% of landslide occurrence areas and 77.42% of landslide occurrence points in the study area are predicted accurately. The wrong predicted landslide occurrences have been investigated again in the field. It is seen that 5 wrong predicted landslide occurrences are reactivated landslides. Hence, it is corrected that they were predicted as low landslide susceptibility class. Therefore, the LSZ with more than 77% prediction correction is highly accurate. It is helpful to authorities and local inhabitants in the Yên Bái City for preventing, warning or mitigating the damages from landslide hazards.
