The Pom Hán thermo-mineral water source, located in
the Bình Minh Ward, Lào
Cai City,
has the major ionic composition of SO42-, HCO3-
and Ca2+, Na+, with the calcium-sodium sulfate-bicarbonate
water type, rich in silica. The temperature is 36.40C; the total
dissolved solid ranges from 504 to 990 mg/l; the pH varies from 6.9 to 7.9; the
content of metasilicic acide changes over the years from 69.723 to 115.72 mg/l,
which allows us to classify this thermo-mineral water as siliceous mineral
water type. The content of microelements meets present standards on water quality
for bottling and drinking. With useful medicinal values and favourable position
in a high touristic potential area, the Pom Hán thermo-mineral water sources
promises to become a site for ecological tourism associated with thermo-mineral
water hydrotherapy in the near future of the Lào Cai Province.
