Some new views on the prospect of titanium-zircon placer of the Red Sand formation in the Ninh Thuận, Bình Thuận and North Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu areas

The realizing results of the Project “Investigation and evaluation of the potential of titanium-zircon placer in the Red Sand Formation of the Ninh Thuận, Bình Thuận and North Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu area” have been allowing us to determine the distributive area of the Red Sand Formation on the above coastal area of nearly 940 km², with the thickness of from 8.0 to over 190.0 m. Placer ores are distributed rather regularly following the depth. The resources of placer titanium-zircon have been preliminarily evaluated as nearly 500 millions tons. This evaluation together with the former resources of over 50 millions tons leads us to a new view: Việt Nam is one of countries having the largest potential in titanium-zircon placer on the World. These resources will guarantee the formation and long-term development of the modern industry on exploitation and processing of titanium-zircon in our country.
