SUMMARY
Applying
the method of 2-D resistivity sounding for dividing weakly differentiated
geoelectrical sections

At present, the methods of resistivity sounding
(both 1-D and 2-D) have been applied broadly in order to divide the electrical resistivity
of different soil layers. The 2-D method with higher resolution has been
showing its capacity of dividing soil layers with little differentiation in
resistivity, such as in sections of sand and clay layers containing salted
water.
This article presents the results of applying
a 2-D electrical sounding method (called also as electrical tomography) for establishing
geoelectrical sections in the Phước Lộc Village, Long Hóa Commune, Cần Giờ
District, Hồ Chí Minh City, that show the advantage of the 2-D electrical
method over the traditional 1-D one in the determination of boundaries between soil
layers having weakly differentiated resistivity. Besides, these results show
also the potential capacity of resistivity sounding methods in geological
studies.
