ON THE SUBDIVISION OF UPPER TRIASSIC COAL-BEARING FORMATION IN WEST BẮC BỘ

Abstract: The Suối Bàng Coal-bearing Formation includes two clear parts: the lower containing marine fauna of Norian age and the upper consisting of subcontinental beds containing coal and remains of the Hòn Gai Flora of Rhaetian age. Aiming to make favourable the geological mapping in large scale and to clearly express the coal-bearing part of the formation on the map, this formation is proposed to be a group with two formations: the Norian Suối Lôi Formation of marine facies and Rhaetian Mường Vọ - of subcontinental facies containing coal.
