SUMMARY
Characteristics of activity of faults in the
west margin of Kon Tum Geoblock during Quaternary - Present time
Phạm Văn Hùng
The fault system in the west margin of Kon Tum Geoblock have been
acting in Neotectonic and Quaternary-Present time. The synthesis of new study
results allows to affirm the characteristics and
mechanism of activity of the faults in this area as follows:
- The most of faults in the west margin
of Kon Tum Geoblock are submeridian faults. In the south part of the area, the
faults have divided into pencil of "horse tail" shape. The width of
dynamical affective area of these faults is about 3-5 km, of Sông Pô Cô fault
is about 5-8 to 10 km.
- The submeridian
faults have slip surface of about 250-2900Ð60-800. They have been acting as normal
and right dextral strike slip faults during Quaternary – Present time.
- Nowadays,
these zones are having activities, accompanied by related geological phenomena
such as: anomalies of geotherm and emanattion (Ra, Hg, ect.),
exposure of mineral and thermal waters, landslide, earth crack, collapse and
earthquake, etc…
