Geological Museum

Belonging to the Department of Geology and Minerals of Vietnam, the Geological Museum is located at 6 Pham Ngu Lao Street in Hanoi.

The exhibition of Museum now is composed of three subjects with 12 themes as follows:
1st subject: Geological History of Vietnam and our Planet, with 5 themes:
1. The Earth and the Solar System
2. Geological Evolution of Vietnam
3. Mineral Potentiality of Vietnam
4. Main Geological Processes
5. Geological Relationship between Vietnam and other countries
2nd subject: Geology and Mineral Resources of Vietnam, with 4 themes:
6. Geological Structure of Vietnam mainland
7. Mineral Resources of Vietnam
8. Geology and Mineral Resources of East Sea and Shelf of Vietnam
9. Geological Maps
3rd subject: Special Collections, with 3 themes:
10. Fossils
11. Minerals and Rocks
12. Geological Publications
In the Museum there are now a large amount of collections of fossils, minerals, rocks, ores, gemstones and ornamental stones, ets. collected in various geological units from Precambrian to Quaternary in Vietnam and some adjacent areas. Among them there are many precious collections gathered from the early XX Century.
Today, as the Specialized Museum on Geology, the Geological Museum is not only responsible for the National Store of preservation samples but also an useful scientific base for the study and research of the pupils, students, researchers; on the other hand it is an exceptionally interesting place for excursion of public concerned.
Geological Museum is now opening everyday to welcome all people, who come here to visit, study and research.
