Based on interpretation documents of remote sensing images, analysis of
topographic and DEM maps, combined with geologo-geomorphological,
tectonophysical and other published documents, the
authors established a scheme of tectonic fracture zones of the study area. On
this scheme, tectonic fractures in the area were distributed complexly in both
scale and direction. However, these fractures were developed particularly in
three orientations: longitude, sub-longitude, northwest-southeastern and
northeast-southwestern. In these orientations, the longitude and sub-longitude
were developed broadly in the area and showing most evidently in two regions:
in western and eastern sides of Kon Turn and Gia Lai provinces. In some special sites the fracture
strips concentrated in zone, such as: Pô Kô - laTri in west and Kon Plông - Đắk 'Roiue in east of Kon
Turn; the zone along river Ba and the zone along the Kon Turn- Ba To
'fault zone. Statistical data showed there are about 60 existing tectonic
fracture strips with 25 km in length in the study area. The intersection of the
fracture zones made some junction points, where were not only having great
prospects for finding water but also water recharging into underground sources
"to save the water" for the drought season in the Tây Nguyên Highlands.
