The use of transient electromagnetic (TEM) method, combining with the
hydrogeological stratification analysis and chemical composition of groundwater
has clarified the distribution of saline-fresh groundwater of coastal aquifers
in estuarine coastal area (Giao Thủy, Xuân Trường, Trực
Ninh and Hải Hậu) Nam Định Province. In this paper, the
authors introduce the results and the possibility of applying TEM method to
determine the salinity of aquifers in particular and water saturated zone in
general. With 61 measurement points, using the software SITEM / SEMDI with
interpretation model of three, four and five layers. The results of the
analysis of chemical composition of groundwater plays the role of regression
parameters and testing in determining the limit. As a result of the study the
potential of fresh-saline distribution of groundwater in aquifers, especially
in the Pleistocene aquifer of Hà Nội formation in the study area has been
determined.
