Mineral admixtures, including natural pozzolan, fly ash, furnace slag, baking clay and limestone powder, have been used widely on the World in concrete, aiming to improve the properties of concrete, such as reducing heat efficiency, increasing durability, lengthening long term, guaranteeing safety in management and use for large works. The mineral admixtures have been also used in production of Portland blended cement, aiming to create the kinds of sulfate and chlorite resistant cements in water sea environment. In production of no-baking materials, the use of mineral admixtures making binder has created brick kinds of higher strength by far compared with bricks produced, according to traditional manual work methods. This article aims to evaluate comprehensively the distribution and potential features of mineral admixture kinds, especially as source of natural pozzolan in our country (summarized in accompanied Table), at the same time, to introduce some initial results applying mineral admixtures of fly ash and natural pozzolan in execution of the hydroelectric damp by the Sông Đà Holdings.
