Wavelet transform is one of new signal analysis tools,
it plays an important role in numerous fields such as image and graphic
processing, data compression, gravitational and geomagnetic data processing...
In this study, the continuous wavelet transform and the wavelet transform
modulus maxima method with appropriate wavelet functions were used to determine
the underground targets from ground penetrating radar data. Results of this
technique from the testing on theoretical models and experimental data
indicated that this procedure was a feasible method; and it can be used for
detecting the depth, size and position of the buried objects without the
consideration of electromagnetic wave velocity in the material. This ground
penetrating radar analysis can be also applied for the detection of natural
resources in shallow structure researches.
